AccessLCA Documentation

AccessLCA is a lightweight Revit plugin that computes embodied‑carbon (LCA) directly from your BIM model and produces client‑ready PDF reports. It’s designed for early‑stage iteration and Canadian (TRACI‑based) workflows.

Requirements

  • Autodesk Revit 2021–2026 on Windows 10/11
  • Permission to install add‑ins
  • ≈50 MB disk space
  • Optional internet for updates and EPD sync

Install

  1. Download the latest installer from the Download section.
  2. Close Revit, run the installer, follow prompts.
  3. Open Revit. Look for the AccessLCA tab with Dashboard and Run Scan.

Manual: copy the .addin file to %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\20xx\ and place .dll binaries in a stable folder. Restart Revit.

Update / Uninstall

To update, re‑run the installer. To remove, use Windows “Apps & Features” or delete the .addin and binaries (manual installs).

Run your first scan

  1. Open your project and click AccessLCA → Run Scan.
  2. Select scope: categories and stages (A1–A3, A4–A5, B, C).
  3. Review quantities and GWP summary; fix obvious modeling issues.
  4. Export a quick PDF report.

Material / EPD mapping

  • Search by material or CSI division.
  • Attach an EPD (source, year, region) or fallback factor.
  • Save mapping templates per office or project.

Reports & exports

  • PDF report with summary, charts, and assumptions.
  • CSV export (Pro).
  • Variant comparison and design deltas (Pro).

Troubleshooting

  • Buttons missing: verify .addin location for your Revit version folder.
  • Scan fails: try a smaller scope; check for corrupt families; ensure categories are enabled.
  • PDF fonts or charts off: update printer drivers; ensure .NET Desktop Runtime is present.
